Random Midnight Musings

Riddle me this:
What's worse than having a cold? When your husband and child also have the same cold. When one has a cold, one sleeps rather loudly, which brings me to the reason I'm blogging right now. Colin is too tall to sleep on the couch, so alas, I am banished to the couch to try and sleep here (the computer is beside the couch on the coffee table).

But I can't sleep. Partially because of that coffee I had at 9pm and partially because my brain won't stop running.

I had a not-so-good day. I got together with a good friend, and I think I scared her off of ever having kids. Nathan is sick, so he was upset. Who can blame him?? He's never been sick so he must have been confused at why his throat is so sore and why he keeps leaving nasal deposits on mommy's left shoulder. I felt really bad for him the first hour of screaming, then really bad for my friend the next hour. The third hour I felt bad for myself and by the fourth hour I didn't feel much anymore. Luckily, he's feeling better now and was back to his smiley self in the evening. It was awesome to see my friend though, as I haven't seen her since September, but I wish we could've had more time to talk.

I get frustrated when people see Nathan at his worst! Seriously, he is usually a happy boy who I love being around, but I don't think people believe me sometimes.

This is his 4 month photo. He's happy here!

Colin turned 30 last week! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I fractured my tailbone on his birthday. OK I don't know if it's fractured or badly bruised. The doctor said there's no point x-raying it because there's nothing you can do for a fractured tailbone, but she suspects it's fractured. Stay tuned for a really great story about how it happened. The truth is that it was a pretty unimpressive snowboarding wipeout but I'm trying to come up with a better story :-)

Anyways, my man has entered the next decade. He's such a great guy. Even though he is really sick, he knew I had a hard day with Nathan so he said I should have a nap and he'll look after dinner. He mentioned grabbing Wendy's. When he woke me up for dinner I walked to the kitchen and found a spaghetti and chicken dinner waiting for me! He's awesome.

I co-hosted a friend's baby shower on Sunday. Nathan's new fishing buddy! There were 5 babies 4 months and younger, and 2 pregnant friends! Whoa! Baby boom.

I was talking to my friend today about her church "college and career" aka "young adult" group. I realized that I am no longer really part of this group at my church. I am also no longer part of the "young married" group at my church. I have graduated to the "Married...with children" group where I will sit until I'm old enough to be part of the "seniors" group.

I'd better try to get some sleep now.

SNOW!

Wow, what odd weather we're having. It snowed about 8 inches at our house on Saturday and Sunday. Now, thanks to the "Pineapple Express" weather system, the snow is all gone and you could be outside in a t-shirt. I even had the doors and windows open for awhile to get some new air in here.

We did enjoy the snow for the day it lasted though! Colin mounted Nathan's car seat base onto a toboggan and we took him for a ride around the backyard! I even built him a snowman. He really enjoyed it! He was nice and cozy all bundled up in his mini snowsuit.

It's nice living on a hill in the winter because you have a toboggan hill in your own yard. Nathan and I watch as Daddy got on his GT racer and attempted to slide from the backyard to the front yard. It didn't work. He ran right into the house and dented the drain pipe.

After about 15 minutes, Nathan started to cry so I took him inside. Then I realized the reason he was crying was because he pooped all over his clothes, not because he was cold.

It's so much fun introducing him to new things!
