This Date Has 22 Minutes

Last night was crazy. I got home from working in Vancouver, then Colin and I headed BACK to Vancouver to pick up our new (to us) truck. We didn't have time to make dinner (oh darn) so we decided to go out on W4th ave. Do something different. Colin picked "Hells Kitchen" out of the Entertainment book.

We had to pick up the truck at 7:30, and we got down there at about 6:35 ish. We were pushing it for time but were really hungry so we looked for parking. And looked for parking. And then looked for some parking.

And I thought it was bad during the DAY?!?

We finally pulled into a spot after a beautiful illegal u-turn. It was 7:00! AH! We only had 30 minutes before we had to pick up the truck! Now we're REALLY pushing it! But we left the car and walked the 2 blocks to the restaurant.

When we walked in, the host said, "We're full...so I'll open up THIS side of the restaurant for you!". He pulled back these red velvet floor to ceiling curtains to reveal a small room of unoccupied tables. We sat down. Then he opened a garage door that was behind me to make it one big room. It was really neat!

The atmosphere was pretty dark in there (I guess, like hell?) and there was "firey" type illuminate artwork on the wall (I guess, like hell?). The food however, was NOT from the kitchen of hell. It's the kind of food the devil will serve you when he's saying, "come to hell, this is what it will be like!" and then when you get there, what he actually feeds you is gruel.

The waitress brought us water right away, as if she knows that we are too cheap to buy beverages. We ordered 2 minutes later.

We each had time to ahem... use the facilities... and a few minutes later, our food was in front of us! QUICK service!

And man was it ever GOOOOOOOOOOD! I had dungeoness crab stuffed ravioli with a creamy mushroom sauce (the ingredients are even on my diet's "safe" list) and Colin had a penne with tiger prawns and chorzo sausage. It was seriously amazing. I drool even now.

We ate pretty fast because we were so famished, and the bill came soon.

We got up and left 26 minutes after we got there! Hows that for a quick date??

On our brisk walk back to the car, we noticed parking meters. Oops. We didn't even really notice a parking meter because we were in such a rush! But luckily, our date was so quick that we didn't get a ticket.

We even picked up the truck on time.
