Done Like Dinner
It's over. My department has moved, and I write from my brand new office.
I survived (although barely). 60+ hours in one week sucks.
My advice to anyone who reads this:
"If your office is moving, plan a big personal event that will happen near moving day, so you will not be working on those days. A baby, wedding, vacation....ANYTHING!"
Luckily for me, I am on vacation as of Thursday evening, so at least I'll be able to recouperate!

Yay! Congratulations on being done! You deserve your vacation. Be sure to relax, eat whatever you want, and forget all about moving!
I one-upped that advice... I quit.
For office moves, it's all in the planning, I think.
Very soon after I started at MH, our office moved aswell. The experience for me was:
Friday afternoon:
- pack up all the stuff from my desk into a big plastic moving box (provided by the moving company)
- label my chair, phone, etc. with sticky labels of my new cubicle number.
- go home
Monday morning:
- go to my new cubicle in the new office to find my chair, computer, phone all setup and a box sitting on the floor with all my stuff
- unpack box, start work!
But, of course, our office was in move mode for 2 years previous... including custom designing our new office layout.
Andrew, that sounds like what my experience was supposed to be.
However, 3 of us were in charge of ensuring that the thousands and thousands of confidential patient medical records made it safe, and in order to the new building. Unfortunate for us, the movers were so disorganized and "behind schedule" that the 3 of us had to load all of the thousands of charts onto filing cabinets with wheels. Probably took a solid 10 hours between 2 days.
Needless to say my arm muscles are noticably larger this week than they were 2 weeks ago!
Ah yes, everybody loves the forced workout...!!
Although not to the extent you've described Nancy, I went through 3 moves with Future Shop, but we didn't move buildings, they just rearranged everone inside the building.
Everything occurred more like Andrew described, labelling boxes on Friday and coming in to a new office on Monday.
And lucky for me, the last 2 moves didn't effect my desk, just everyone around me.
